In Dalembert (pardon my French, but I’ll write it that way), you increase your bet with 1 unit on loss and decrease it with 1 unit on win. Some users suggest that there should be an initial bet from which you can decrease if you win more than you lose, but in my opinion it’s better to start with just 1 unit bet and this is why:
With Dalembert strategy you basically gain 1 unit on every win, which accumulates, so if you let’s say win 49 times and lose 51 times, you’ll have 49-3=46 units profit. If you’d start with 5 units, you would have 49-11=38 units in profit. The only reason to start with higher bet than 1 unit, is if you plan to win more than lose, which is less likely in a game where casino has an advantage, so basically in any game.
So betting with Dalembert looks like this
1 – loss
2 – loss
3 – loss
4 – win
3 – win
2 – loss
3 – loss
Etc.
Dalembert system requires less bankroll than other systems, but it’s designed for a longer playtime and with “equal” chance bets, in case of roulette it can be red/black, even/odd etc., or can be used in games like Baccarat or Blackjack.
