Fibonacci Betting Strategy for Roulette
The Fibonacci strategy is a well-known betting system for roulette. The idea is to increase your next bet after a loss by following the Fibonacci sequence, and to move back two steps after a win.
How it works
- Bet sequence after a loss: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, 987, …
- After a win: move back two steps in the sequence.
- Example: If you’ve lost five bets in a row (bets 1, 1, 2, 3, 5) and then win on 8, the next bet is 3 (the value two steps back from 8).
Strengths and weaknesses
- Strength: More forgiving than Martingale Strategy, since it doesn’t double the stake after every loss.
- Weakness: Even with its forgiving nature, a string of losses can exhaust your balance. To maintain your current level of bets, you typically need to win roughly every third bet on even-money outcomes; a long sequence of losses can still wipe out your funds.
Typical use and considerations
- Commonly used for even-money bets:
- Red vs. Black
- Even vs. Odd
- Low (1–18) vs. High (19–36)
- When applied to bets like columns or rows with a 2:1 payout, you fully recover on any win and also win sligly less than half of your current bet.
